A simple chat with investment bankers, journalists or technocrats is enough to conclude that the current meaning of “BRICS” may well vary, according to whom one is speaking to. There are at least two different visions of this group in the international community.
The first one takes the current period into account, as well as the outlook, for the four giants (here, excluding South Africa) and considers them as “growth markets”. This is along the line of the Goldman Sachs analysis, which was issued during the past decade. It emphasized factors such as the size of their territory and population in their respective regions to outline the future of the global economy.
