MayelaRincón is the CFO of Bio Pappel, Mexico’s largest paper manufacturer and one of the top 50 industrial companies in the country. In 2012, the company ranked 457 in Latin Business Chronicle’s Top 500 Companies in Latin America, with revenues of almost $1 billion. The company produces sustainable packaging products, newsprint, kraft, and bond paper.
Rincón worked as part of a team that founded Bio Pappel in 1982. Then the company had just 16 employees and annual sales of $2 million. Now, the firm generates some 8,000 jobs and registers annual sales of more than $1 billion – and is expected to keep growing. Eighty percent of the company’s revenue is generated in Mexico, while the remaining 20 percent comes from its U.S. operations.
Latin Trade is honored to have MayelaRincón as a member of its CFO Advisory Board for its CFO Mexico events. Additionally she has been honored as one of the most powerful women in Mexico by the magazine Expansión. LBC spoke with MayelaRincón at Latin Trade’s latest CFO event in Mexico City in February about the current state of Mexican economy and its effects for her company, as well as plans for the future.
