The leading 25 foreign-based multinational corporations (MNCs) operating in Latin America saw a 6.7 percent decline in combined revenues in the third quarter of 2013 compared with the same quarter of 2012. This compares to a global average decline of only 0.7 percent. Most multinationals in the region saw steep declines – especially those in the energy and wireless telephony industries. However, U.S.-based companies were some of the few to see their revenues increase. Automaker Ford stood out as the most shining bright spot, posting double-digit growth compared with sales one year ago.
