LAN makes first flight in Colombia using biofuel

The flight represents the company’s effort to use more renewable fuels.

LAN Colombia made its first commercial flight in this South American nation in an Airbus 320-214 on August 21 using biofuel made from a flowering plant called camelina.The round-tripfrom Bogota to Cali, carrying 174 passengers, went off smoothly, using a mixture of 30 percent biofuel and 70 percentof the Jet A1 fuel normally used in LAN’s aircraft.
