Nicaragua is the Latin American country with the highest ratio of foreign direct investment as a percent of GDP, according to data from the United Nations Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean and the International Monetary Fund.


Panama and Chile follow, while Ecuador has the lowest FDI-GDP ratio, followed by Paraguay and Argentina.


Although Brazil and Mexico boast Latin America’s highest and second-highest FDI levels, compared to their economies the ratios are relatively small.
