MetLife sees strong growth potential in Latin America for life insurance and pension products.

MetLife, one of the big players in the Latin American insurance market, sees great growth potential for international life insurance companies in the region, due to an expanding middle-class, under-penetration of insurance products and soaring demand for retirement products as an alternative to government benefits.

“Latin America is a dynamic market with huge growth potential driven by demographics, strong emerging economies and other factors,” according to Oscar Schmidt, MetLife’s executive vice president, CEO for Latin America and head of direct marketing for the Americas.
