In addition to the impact of the economic slowdown in the United States and Europe, Latin America’s key challenges this year include geopolitics, inflation and protectionism in select markets, multinational executives tell Latin Business Chronicle.
“Mexico and Venezuela will have elections this year,” points out Leo Rodriguez, President of Latin America for Emerson and Emerson Process Management. “These are important oil and gas markets. It's critical that these elections support investment environments without threat to investors.”
Meanwhile, Latin America also faces a new type of challenge – the gap between reality and its image worldwide, points out Woods Staton, President and CEO, Arcos Dorados, the world’s largest McDonald’s franchisee.
