Latin America: Facebook and Twitter Boom

The number of Facebook users in Brazil triples since June, but Mexico is still the regional leader.

There are now 95 million Facebook users in Latin America, or nearly a sixth of the social media’s total user base worldwide, according to new data from social media consultancy SMLatam.

 

The number of Facebook users in Latin America also represents around 16 percent of Latin America’s population. Facebook users tripled in Brazil and doubled in Mexico since June last year.

 

Facebook now has 95.6 million users in Latin America, which represents an increase of  59.3 percent from June last year.

 

Mexico leads the way, with 21.9 million users, a near-doubling from the 12.5 million users it had in June 2010.
