Petrobras outperforms foreign oil giants, but lags Ecopetrol.

Brazilian oil giant Petrobras isn’t the best performer in
Latin America when it comes to five-year revenue and profit growth. That honor goes to Colombian state oil company Ecopetrol, which also beat global oil giants like Exxon Mobil, Shell, BP and Chevron, according to a Latin Business Chronicle analysis of five-year data from eight oil companies.

Ecopetrol boosted revenues by 119 percent in dollar terms between 2005 and 2009. By comparison, Petrobras revenues grew 56.5 percent in the same period.

Even measured in local currency terms, Ecopetrol outperformed Petrobras, 96 percent growth versus 22.2 percent.
