The Latin American recovery has proven to be remarkably resilient and should stretch into 2011, although the average growth for the region is expected to drop as economic expansions in Brazil, Argentina and Peru slow down. As this year draws to a close, currency appreciation against the dollar has created difficulties for some exporting countries in the region, a situation alleviated in part by rising prices for commodities in countries like Chile.
