Camposol: World’s Asparagus Champion

How Peru's Camposol became the world’s largest exporter of asparagus.

LIMA -- If asparagus is considered the star of Peru’s agribusiness, then Camposol, the country’s largest exporter of that crop last year, is the sector’s guiding light.  

"Camposol is an example of a large, well-managed company that has implemented a good sales and production strategy," says Fernando Ferrero, general manager of Agroparacas, a Peruvian company that produces asparagus and other vegetables, legumes and fruits. “Less than fifteen years ago the company wasn’t even in the asparagus business and today it is the world’s largest exporter. Without a doubt, Camposol is an example of good corporate development." 

Indeed, Camposol is a force to be reckoned with not only in Peru, but in the global agribusiness. In addition to being the world’s top asparagus exporter, the company is one of the largest providers of mango, avocado, and piquillo pepper in its home country—and has the potential to become one of the principal exporters worldwide of these products, according to industry insiders like Ferrero.
