BY CHRONICLE STAFF
To what degree did the global crisis affect the Latin America business of U.S. law firms last year and how do they see the outlook this year? What country markets and industry sectors are growing most?
Latin Business Chronicle asked the Latin America leaders of three prominent U.S. law firms. Our panel:
- Jose Astigarraga, managing partner of Astigarraga Davis
- Laura McMahon, co-chair of Latin America Practice of Fulbright & Jaworski
- Paul Schnell, chair of the Latin America Practice at Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom
Latin Business Chronicle: How do you view the outlook for your Latin America business this year? To what degree do you expect an increase compared with 2009?
Schnell: We are very optimistic about the region and the level of business that we will see in 2010. Its incredible how strong the region and many country economies have become in recent years, and we are seeing a significant increase in demand for international legal services. In addition to the inbound business, many of our Latin American clients have become world class players; we look forward to working with them as they take on the world.
