Latin America: Digital Music Sales Grow

Digital music sales — especially through wireless phones — help offset declines in CD’s in Latin America.

While Latin America’s overall music market fell last year, digital sales grew, according to preliminary estimates from the London-based International Federation of the Phonographic Industry (IFPI), an industry group that represents all major music labels.

”We think growth this year [of digital music will be] between 15 and 20 percent,” says Raul Vazquez, regional director for
Latin America for IFPI.


That would translate to a market of between $69 and $72 million.
