Baxter sees another good growth year in Latin America despite the global crisis.

Thanks to growing healthcare demand in Latin America, U.S.-based medical-products conglomerate Baxter International expects to see continued growth in the region despite the impact of the global crisis.

“We’re in line with the forecast of the company,” says Carlos Alonso, who has been president for Latin America for Baxter International the past three years.  Baxter expects global sales growth, excluding the impact of foreign currency, to increase 7 to 8 percent this year.

Last year, Latin America sales grew by 5.3 percent to $1.0 billion. The firm employs some 5,900 people in Latin America. The Latin America region includes Baxter manufacturing and distribution facilities in Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica and Mexico.

Baxter develops, manufactures and markets products that save and sustain the lives of people with hemophilia, immune disorders, infectious diseases, kidney disease, trauma and other chronic and acute medical conditions.
