TCS: Double-Digit LatAm Growth

Indian tech company TCS expects double-digit growth in Latin America this year despite the global crisis.


Indian IT company Tata Consulting Services (TCS) is weathering the global crisis well, boasting a 12 percent revenue increase in its latest quarter ending June. Latin America is no exception. There, the company expects to see sales grow by 15 to 20 percent this year.


“We have some colleagues that say no growth is growth [during the crisis],” says Mario Tucci, vice president of Latin America marketing and alliances for TCS. “We have yet to convince our colleagues in India about that.”


The strong growth is driven by increased demand for business process outsourcing (BPO), including front office services such as customer relations, which helped offset declines in other types of business. The crisis led many U.S. and European firms to outsource customer service operations, Tucci points out.  “We see an increase in that,” he says.
