Brazil continues to perform strongly this year for Avaya after a strong year in Latin America.

Latin America remains the fastest-growing region worldwide for U.S.-based networking-equipment maker Avaya, with Brazil leading the way.
“Unlike the United States, [which has felt] the impact of the whole recession, in Latin America we have been doing well,” says Elizabeth Garcia, region vice president of Avaya for the Caribbean Latin America (CALA). "I think growth will be less this year, but Latin America of all regions will do better.”
In Avaya’s last fiscal year, which ended in September, Latin America revenues grew by almost 30 percent. Last year’s results were the best within Avaya worldwide and also outperformed the Latin American average of the past five years of 18 to 20 percent growth. “The great thing was that all regions id well,” she says.
Brazil was the shining star, with almost 45 percent growth. “The superstar in 2008 was Brazil,” Garcia says. “Brazil had an astronomical year.”
And despite an economic slowdown, Brazil remains a shining star. “Brazil continues to grow,” she says. “In the first quarter it grew approximately 18 percent. Brazil is the one growing most right now.”
