Thanks to strong sales in the second quarter, HP has narrowed its gap with IBM in market share of Latin American servers. While IBM still dominates with 40.1 percent of the revenues in the Latin American server market, HP now can boast a share of 27.5 percent, according to second quarter data from Gartner. That means IBM's market share has fallen - from 46.2 percent in the second quarter last year, while HP's has grown - from 23.0 percent.
IBM is still the king when it comes to making money on Latin American sales of servers, a computer or device on a network that manages network resources. The once-giant IT company generated $193.7 million from Latin American server sales in the second quarter, according to Gartner. That represents 1.3 percent increase from the same period last year.
