A strong channel network throughout Latin America - and continued strong economic growth regionwide - helped widen Hewlett-Packards lead over Dell in the region. HP sold 854,893 PCs in Latin America in the second quarter, a 76.9 percent increase from the same period last year, according to market research firm Gartner.
Dell sold 379,350 PCs in the second quarter, which was 9.4 percent better than a year earlier. However, HPs market share jumped from 11.9 percent to 15.2 percent, while Dells fell from 8.5 percent to 6.8 percent, according to Gartner.
