BY CHRONICLE STAFF

June 21, 2006 - Latin Business Chronicle now has a new look and a new technical solution - both developed by Merit Designs. The new design also includes the logo, which now features a globe.

”After five years with basically the same design, it was time to change,”  says Joachim Bamrud, editor-in-chief of Latin Business Chronicle.  ” We hope our readers like the new design as much as we do.”

Latin Business Chronicle evaluated web developing firms worldwide before choosing Merit Designs, a company based in the Dominican Republic. Merit has developed similar web site solutions for top Dominican newspapers like Hoy, Diario Libre and El Nacional as well as government telecom regulator Indotel, Banco Popular (the country’s largest bank) and the Dominican Golf Federation. The company is also behind Dominican Today, a popular web site with daily news on the Dominican Republic.

”We hope the new design will help us further boost our traffic,”  Bamrud says. Latin Business Chronicle already is one of the the fastest-growing media covering Latin American business. Combined, we registered almost 2 million hits (1,981,910) during the first half of this year, an increase of 281.4 percent from the same period last year, when we registered 519,668 hits, according to Webalizer. The number of readers has also grown strongly - from 5,261 in June 2005 to 28,348 in June 2006.
