Electronic Home video use is booming

The world report on media and entertainment for 2015-2019 recently published by PwC shows interesting data on how internet penetration is helping the entertainment industry to grow. For example, electronic home video use could account for more than 20 percent of all movie entertainment industry revenues by 2019. The reason: it is cheap entertainment available at a click.

In Colombia, Peru, Chile, Argentina and Brazil, the greater penetration of internet by mobile telephone is increasing revenues from home videos and is expected to be an important growth area in the next few years, given that the infrastructure is widespread in these countries.
In contrast, countries like Venezuela, with poor internet connectivity infrastructure, either fixed or mobile, are limiting the growth of revenues from electronic home videos.
Mexico is a special case. It has more limited mobile infrastructure, but fixed broadband is widely available, and this is enabling revenues from electronic videos to have a large participation in the total movie market.
